My Thoughts on Taxes
I have lived in NH since I was in 1st grade (34 years) and love the fact that my state has no income or sales tax. That is part of what makes our state great and changing that would be detrimental to our economy. We have people from surrounding states such as Massachusetts and Vermont with some of the higher Sales Taxes in the country and where do they go to go shopping? They don't just stop at the border towns either, they will plan a monthly trip and go up to the outlets, have a meal and maybe do some other things for entertainment, catch a show, go to the beach, visit a museum, go up to the White Mountains, whatever type of entertainment their family prefers. We would lose all of this with the introduction of a sales tax. It's the lack of sales tax that draws them in. It would hurt NH businesses and residents and I would veto any bill that tried to institute any such tax. It's just common sense.
